I'm building a photo album of pieces for sale for my website and a hard copy portfolio to take to different businesses in the hopes they will display and sell my work.

My business will be called Blackberry Bay and will feature my stained glass, glass art, my hand bound books and Norm's photography. Someday I may add other artists works, but for now I'm focusing completely on getting myself up and running.

I'm also in the process of building a panel that is a new design called Pumpkin field. And, I still need to build pieces for the craft shows that I plan to be at to introduce myself to the Art community. My first appearance will be at the Mattydale Craft Fair on October 8, 2011. Just in time for me to post that I've finished a Fairy for someone. Hopefully, I'll be able to give it to the designated person soon. The workshop is great this time of year. I'm able to open the windows and let in some fresh air. The temperature is very comfortable and allows me to focus completely on my work and not on wiping sweat off my face or having to rub my hands together for warmth...lol! Now, I need to spend some time reorganizing the workshop after I've added a bunch of new elements to it.

I'm planning to work on a large piece next. Not sure what it will be exactly. Maybe a window or something for the front of our house....hhhmmmmm.

Repaired but not yet finished

I spent most of the day making the repairs on the Blossoms on Mirror piece. It foiled and soldered well in the repair areas, not so much when attaching it to the mirror backing. I plan to frame the outside edges, hiding the zinc caming, with real bamboo. This will take some time as I will need to split each piece of bamboo, then whiddle away quite a bit of it to get it to fit over the zinc caming. And, for some reason, the mirror doesn't want to stay clean. It appears that every time I look at this piece that I was so proud of, I'm going to end up cringing. sigh. I just need to figure out how to build a frame that holds the picture. Caming seems like it will be too big. Maybe I'll try a metal spacer and then use glass to frame the picture slot. I started on a black and white baroque candle holder today. For some reason, all the foil I order a while back is opened, which means it's not been airtight and is worthless at this point. It doesn't stick to the glass...ugh! I'll need to order more or maybe run to Camillus Stained Glass and pick some up. I'm going to build a yellow sun with alternating colored flares when I'm done with the candle holder.

Taking a 'break' from Blossoms on Mirror project

I've put things on hold with the broken blossom project. I'll have to take apart several pieces, refoil them, resolder them and probably add some support pieces to help avoid a similar scenario. Maybe some straight edge pieces to mimic a trellis or something.

I worked on a picture frame today. I went to Wally World and bought a 5x7 picture frame with glass for .95 cents to use for the center portion. The only thing is...the foil doesn't seem to want to stick to the glass. I've tried grinding the glass (after cutting it to fit the opening). I've tried cleaning and drying the glass. I'm not sure if maybe it's the foil is old. I think I'll start a new roll and see what happens.

I recently finished a Cowboys jersey for my daughter, Terri's boyfriend, Drew. Soon I'll be making a yellow sun for my niece, Hailey and a dolphin for my niece Morgan (I think it's for Morgan). My nephew Evan would like something with hockey and his team number on it. My sister Sandra would like a fairy and my other sister, Kathy would like a picture frame made with the black baroque glass. My other sister Tanya says she plans to order some pieces to be given as gifts. This sounds very good to me! The branches and blossoms have been soldered to the frame. Next, I'll patina the zinc on the mirror and the frame and branches, etc. Then it all gets soldered to the zinc frame on the mirror, touch up the patina, washed well and then it should be ready to hang! I sure hope it looks as good when it's all done and hung up, as it looks to me in my mind!

I learned a lot of new things doing this particular piece.
